Stephen Gorny
Steve Gorny graduated magna cum laude from the Washburn University School of Law in 1994. He earned bachelor’s degrees in political science and sociology from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio.
In 2006, he and Jim Frickleton obtained the seventh largest trial verdict in the United States. Mr. Gorny also has obtained the largest non-punitive wrongful death verdict in Missouri history and the largest verdict ever in Cass County, Missouri. He is a member of the Multi-Million Dollar Advocate’s Forum, which is limited to attorneys who have won million and multi-million dollar verdicts and settlements. Less than 1 percent of U.S. lawyers are members.
Mr. Gorny is an active supporter and current President of the Mid America Chapter of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, which named him its 2007 Team in Training Volunteer of the Year. The Society’s Team in Training program involves fundraising for the organization by participating in high-endurance activities such as marathon running. In 2006 he ran one marathon per month, raising $35,000. In all, he’s run in over 30 marathons to benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.
Mr. Gorny is admitted to practice before the Missouri Supreme Court, the Missouri Court of Appeals, the Kansas Supreme Court, the Kansas Court of Appeals, the United States District Court for the Western District of Missouri, the United States District Court of the District of Kansas, and the United States District Court of the District of Nebraska.
He is a member of the Missouri Bar, the Kansas Bar Association, the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association, the American Association of Justice, Trial Lawyers for Public Justice, and is a member of the Missouri Association of Trial Attorneys Board of Governors.
