AT&T Mobility Wireless Data Services Sales Tax Litigation.
After being appointed as lead class counsel by the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, Bartimus Frickleton Robertson negotiated the settlement of one of the largest consumer class-action cases in U.S. history. Our firm represented a nationwide class of AT&T Mobility customers against AT&T Mobility in a case claiming that the telecommunications giant had improperly charged sales tax on internet access service. A settlement was reached in record time and refund requests totaling more than a billion dollars are being pursued with more than a thousand taxing jurisdictions across the country. Our aggressive but cooperative approach to this litigation resulted in an excellent solution for all parties.
MBA Surety Agency, Inc. v. AT&T, Mobility, Inc.
Bartimus Frickleton Robertson also recently achieved a class action settlement with AT&T Mobility that resulted in a return to the nationwide class of over $157 million of Federal Universal Services fees that had been mistakenly collected by AT&T for their cellphone customers. The settlement resulted in the class being awarded one hundred percent of the overcharged funds.
