Kip Robertson Obtained $13 Million Settlement on Behalf of Bus Driver

Kip Robertson has obtained a $13 million settlement on behalf of a school bus driver whose liability insurance companies denied coverage for an accident in which a student was killed.  Robertson alleged the two insurance companies handled the claim in bad faith and breached duties owed to the driver by putting their own financial interests ahead of their insured.  The case resulted in two Court of Appeals opinions: (1); Leonberger v. Missouri United School Insurance Council, 501 S.W.3d 1 (Mo. App. E.D. 2016); and, (2) Pitt v. Leonberger, –S.W.3d–, 2017 WL 491218 (Mo. App. E.D. 2017)  The settlement resulted in a payment of more than $10,000,000 above the insurer’s policy limit.   The proceeds of the settlement will benefit the family of the student who was killed in the accident.
