Annual Back to School Breakfast at Operation Breakthrough

Each summer, Lawyers Encouraging Academic Performance (LEAP) provides supplies to the students at Operation Breakthrough at the Annual Back to School Breakfast.

“It is our honor, through LEAP and its supporters, to help Operation Breakthrough students feel confident and empowered to do their very best. They have dreams that go beyond the classroom. Removing the barrier of not having school supplies is one less obstacle for them to overcome,” said Michelle Marvel, co-chair for the 2018 event.

On July 27, Mike Meyer, Kelly Frickleton, and Andrew McGrew joined Michelle Marvel to distribute backpacks and supplies to kids ranging in ages from preschool to high school. With the generous donations of area attorneys and law firms, including Bartimus Frickleton Robertson Rader, LEAP provided book bags, school supplies, breakfast, and school uniforms to almost 500 students.

The firm has been involved with LEAP for many years. Michelle serves on the Board of Directors. Jim Bartimus and Jim Frickleton also serve as life-time board members. LEAP strives to help Operation Breakthrough achieve its mission to help children who are living in poverty develop to their fullest potential by providing a safe, loving and educational environment. The firm continues to be involved with Operation Breakthrough during the school year when Kelly Frickleton, Anne Tarvin, and Andrew McGrew volunteer as Study Buddies to read with first graders for two hours each week.
