BFRR Employee Lisa Groves Bax Receives Therapy Dog to Help Children in Courtroom

Lisa Groves Bax, from our Jefferson City office, received a Therapy Dog from Brandon McMillan with the CBS Series Lucky Dog (which airs on Saturday mornings).  Lisa contacted Mr. McMillan after having the idea that a therapy dog would greatly help children she volunteers with through CASA (Capital City Court-Appointed Special Advocates) program, which connects children in the legal system who have been abused, neglected or found in unstable homes with adult advocates to represent them.

Olive arrived in Jefferson City, along with Mr. McMillan to shoot an episode surrounding Lisa’s work with the CASA program.  Olive is now officially part of Lisa’s family, which includes her husband Danny, and their other dog, Diva, an 7 year old chocolate lab.

Having been skillfully trained by McMillan, Olive’s new job duties will include accompanying Lisa to the court where the children can play with, hold and find comfort in having a loving animal present in a normally stressful situation.
