Jim Bartimus Receives UMKC Foundation’s Lifetime Achievement Award

Each year, the UMKC Foundation and Law Alumni Association recognize exceptional alumni and friends of the UMKC School of Law with joint awards acknowledging lifetime achievement, philanthropy, leadership, and service to the School of Law and the legal community.

We are pleased to announce that our founder, Jim Bartimus (’77), was recently honored with the UMKC Foundation’s Lifetime Achievement Award.

Jim joins an exclusive and esteemed list of UMKC Law alumni who have been recognized for achieving outstanding success in the legal profession.

Throughout his career advocating for victims of medical malpractice, Jim has remained highly active with the law school, served as an adjunct professor, and been a dedicated volunteer and contributor to the Kansas City legal community.

“Giving back is important to me. It’s important to all of us. We’re lucky to be doing what we’re doing and to have the stature that we have. It’s important to put that back in the community.”

Jim, along with five other award recipients, were honored for their dedication to the law school, community, and legal profession at The 2023 Big Event.
